G.U.M. – Grow Up Mindful

Children in the K-5 age range are going through a lot of life’s experiences for the first time. With the exception of a year or two of preschool, most kids in this age range are going to school for the first time. They are making new friends, socially interacting, and rapidly growing both physically and mentally. Simultaneously, they are dealing the stress of some responsibility, learning to deal with bullying, and battling the social challenges that come with being in school. These situations are all occurring rapidly and at once, causing potential problems for the kids in the K-5 age. Many people think in terms of grade levels too often and forget that these children are ranging from age 5 to only age 10. Thankfully, the same rapid change that can cause problems for children in this age range is a fantastic soil in which to plant the seeds of mindfulness.  How about mindfulness for middle schoolers? High schoolers? Why mindfulness in high school is arguably the most important and how to go about implementing programs.  All this and more covered in the book Grow Up Mindful.

The Short and Tall of Sleep

Sleep does a lot more than just help you feel rested. It boosts your metabolism, strengthens your immune system, improves athletic performance, and lowers the risk of depression and anxiety. And unlike tough workouts or strict diets, sleep is a simple and enjoyable way to take care of your health.

Still, many people don’t get enough sleep—whether it’s from busy schedules, distractions, or sleep disorders like insomnia. That’s why sleep needs to be seen as a top priority, just like exercise or healthy eating.

This book will walk you through why sleep matters, how it affects different parts of your body, and what happens when you don’t get enough. You’ll also learn basic sleep science, common sleep issues, and easy tips to help you sleep better.

By understanding the power of sleep and making small changes, you can build better habits and live a healthier, more energized life. Sleep may look different for everyone, but the benefits are universal—and worth the effort.
